What is PMU - Permanent make up
Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, is a cosmetic technique that involves tattooing mineral pigments into the skin to resemble makeup. It is one of the most requested cosmetic treatments due to the natural enhancement for areas such as eyebrows, lips and eyes.
PMU can create long-lasting makeup effects that can save time and effort in daily beauty routines or help with medical reconstruction.
What is the difference between Semi permanent make up and Permanent make up?
Nothing.
The terminology is often used interchangeably but there is in fact no difference between the two.
Permanent make up is a form of cosmetic tattooing where pigments are implanted into the skin which will fade over time. The pigments can last anywhere from a few months to a few years, depending on various factors like skin type, lifestyle, pigment and specific treatment used.
How long will it last?
Permanent make up is designed to fade out over time but is still considered a cosmetic tattoo. Factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle, medications, pigments used and treatment methods can all affect the longevity of the tattoo.
Please follow the strict guidelines in the aftercare to ensure you get the best results from your treatment.
*Please note that final results vary and cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the skin. A touch up appointment is recommended 6-12 weeks after your treatment and ongoing maintenance visits are required to keep your tattoo looking its best.
Am I suitable for the treatment?
Unfortunately, not everyone is a candidate for permanent makeup. I want each of my clients to get the absolute best results possible, and not every skin type accommodates that. The below contraindications disqualifies you from currently receiving permanent makeup. With questions regarding your specific situation, please email biancajcosmetics@gmail.com.
Contraindications – please check the list below for details and advice.
Other contraindications: Those who have gastrointestinal diseases, kidney failure, liver deficiency. Those who have exacerbation of chronic illness. Those with active inflammatory skin conditions near the procedure area, such as psoriasis, eczema, keloid scarring, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, shingles, or open cuts or sores.Individuals with Pacemaker or major heart problems – we use epinephrine, as a numbing agent, that can increase your heart rate possibly causing dysrhythmias. Viral infections and/or diseases – The risk of developing an infection is higher in people with compromised immune system.
What factors could affect my results?
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Preparing your skin for your appointment is very important to obtain the best healed results. More detailed information on how to prepare for each treatment is included within the treatment section, however here is an over all guideline.
2-4 weeks before -
To avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour retention:
If I have had PMU done elsewhere by another artist what should I do?
This will depend on many factors. Typically I cannot cover work that has not faded by at last 70%. Please send Bianca clear images in good lighting to WhatsApp or email biancajcosmetics@gmail.com Bianca will advise the best option for you, which will be either correction work or removal. If you book an appointment without telling me about the existing work and therefore come to an appointment I may have to turn you away and you will forfeit your deposit.
Will I need a touch up appointment?
Yes! PMU is a two-step process, and a touch up is strongly recommended to get the best results. Also known as the “perfecting session”, a touch up is done 6-12 weeks after your initial session, and is where we assess your retention and make any necessary adjustments , it is where we can perfect! Touch ups are very important and add to the overall results and longevity of your PMU. Because Bianca typically books out months in advance, she will book your touch up appointments with you at your initial appointment. It is strongly encouraged to not cancel or move this touch up appointment as trying to rebook within the correct timeline may be difficult. Keeping within the dedicated timeline that Bianca will book for you ensures you receive your treatments at the right time and get the best results.
Do I need a patch test?
A patch test is not mandatory. If you are concerned about an allergy, your skin type or have a medical concern, it would be advised to have a patch test initially. You can contact Bianca to discuss and arrange.
